Stage 1: RESTORE — Field Guide Entry

Partial Care Program"Regulate, rebuild, and reinforce"

"The first weeks after inpatient are the most fragile. Our Partial Care program builds the bridge between round-the-clock care and the independence of everyday life — six structured hours each day to stabilize, learn, and grow stronger."

Valley Spring's Partial Care (PHP) program meets Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, giving you six dedicated hours of clinical treatment while you return home each evening. Designed for individuals stepping down from inpatient treatment or those who need intensive structure without residential care, this 4–6 week program combines evidence-based therapy, medication-assisted treatment, and holistic wellness to help you build a lasting foundation in recovery.

Field Guide — Daily Structure

A Day in Partial Care

Each day follows a carefully designed rhythm — clinical depth in the morning, wellness and personal growth in the afternoon. Groups stay small (fewer than 10) so every voice is heard.

Daily Schedule

Your Day, Hour by Hour

9:00 – 10:30

Process Group Therapy

Intimate groups of fewer than 10 clients. A clinician-guided space to share experiences, practice vulnerability, and develop coping skills through peer connection.

10:30 – 12:00

Psychoeducation

Structured learning about addiction neuroscience, relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and practical life skills. Knowledge becomes your armor.

12:00 – 1:00

Catered Lunch & Community

A shared meal prepared for you each day. Breaking bread together builds bonds and takes one more thing off your plate during this critical time.

1:00 – 2:00

Health & Wellness (5 Pillars)

Yoga, sound baths, gym sessions, ice baths, stretching, mindfulness, hiking, reiki, meditation, and music therapy — rotating activities to nourish body and mind.

2:00 – 3:00

Elective Therapy

Choose from specialized tracks: art therapy, journaling workshops, anger management, relationship skills, or advanced relapse prevention based on your personal goals.

Why Valley Spring for Partial Care

Every detail of this program was designed with one question in mind: what do people need most in their first fragile weeks of recovery?

01

Small Group Intimacy

Process groups of fewer than 10 clients ensure you are never lost in a crowd. Your story is heard, your progress tracked, your growth celebrated.

02

8:1 Staff Ratio

More clinicians per client than nearly any program in New Jersey. This means faster response, deeper therapeutic relationships, and individualized care plans.

03

Holistic Five Pillars

Nutrition, yoga, sound baths, ice baths, mindfulness, hiking, reiki, music therapy — recovery heals the whole person, not just the addiction.

04

Integrated MAT

FDA-approved medications prescribed alongside therapy by our medical team. Suboxone, Vivitrol, Brixadi, Naltrexone, and Topamax available on site.

05

72-Hour Case Management

Your case manager is assigned within three days of admission. FMLA paperwork, court compliance, housing, return-to-work — all handled for you.

06

Six Days a Week

Monday through Saturday treatment means faster stabilization. The extra day helps maintain momentum and reduces dangerous weekend gaps in early recovery.

Trail Map

Four Phases of Your Recovery Trail

Your journey through Partial Care follows a clear, research-backed progression. Each phase builds on the last — from stabilization to independent living.

1

Assessment & Stabilization

Week 1 — Mile Marker 1

Your first week focuses on a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment. We learn your story — medical history, substance use patterns, trauma, co-occurring disorders, family dynamics, and personal goals. Case management is assigned within 72 hours. MAT evaluation begins if appropriate. The goal is simple: feel safe, get oriented, begin to regulate.

2

Core Clinical Work

Weeks 2–3 — Mile Marker 2

With your foundation set, intensive therapeutic work begins. Daily process groups dive into CBT and DBT frameworks. Individual therapy sessions (1–2 per week) address your specific needs: trauma processing with EMDR, motivational interviewing for ambivalence, experiential therapy for emotional expression. Psychoeducation deepens your understanding of addiction's neuroscience.

3

Integration & Skill Building

Weeks 3–5 — Mile Marker 3

Therapeutic gains are reinforced through real-life practice. Health & Wellness sessions help establish daily routines — nutrition, exercise, mindfulness. Case management addresses practical barriers: FMLA paperwork, return-to-work planning, court compliance, housing. Relapse prevention planning becomes more detailed and personalized.

4

Transition Planning

Weeks 5–6 — The Summit

As you prepare to step down to IOP or outpatient care, your clinical team collaborates on a comprehensive discharge plan. Alumni program connections are established, community support meetings identified, ongoing therapy arranged, and a personalized relapse prevention toolkit finalized. You leave with structure, not just hope.

Campfire Q&A

Common Questions About Partial Care

Straightforward answers to the questions people ask most — no clinical jargon, no runaround.

Partial Care (also called Partial Hospitalization or PHP) is a structured outpatient program that provides 6 hours of treatment daily, Monday through Saturday. It is designed for individuals stepping down from inpatient/residential treatment or those who need intensive support but can safely return home each evening. At Valley Spring, PHP is Stage 1 of our continuum — the RESTORE phase focused on regulation, rebuilding, and reinforcement.
The typical duration is 4 to 6 weeks, though your clinical team adjusts this based on your individual progress. Treatment is not calendar-driven — it is outcome-driven. When you and your therapist agree you are ready, you will step down to our IOP program for continued support at a reduced schedule.
You arrive at 9 AM. The morning starts with 90 minutes of process group therapy (groups of fewer than 10), followed by psychoeducation until noon. A catered lunch is provided. The afternoon includes a Health & Wellness session (yoga, sound baths, mindfulness, gym, etc.) from 1–2 PM, and an elective therapy hour from 2–3 PM. You also receive 1–2 individual therapy sessions per week.
Most major insurance plans cover Partial Care. We accept 16 providers including Horizon, Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, UHC, Anthem, Amerihealth, Oscar, Tricare, and more. Our billing team handles verification directly with your provider and will give you a clear picture of your coverage before treatment begins. Call us at (201) 781-8812 for a free insurance check.
Yes. Our medical team can prescribe Suboxone, Vivitrol, Brixadi, Naltrexone, and Topamax as part of your treatment plan. MAT is always integrated with therapy — medication alone is never our approach. Your psychiatrist or medical provider will determine if MAT is appropriate during your initial assessment.
PHP runs 9 AM to 3 PM, six days a week, so it typically requires a temporary leave from full-time work. However, our case management team assists with FMLA paperwork, short-term disability claims, and return-to-work planning from day one. Many clients find that investing these 4–6 weeks saves their career in the long run.
After completing Partial Care, most clients step down to our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which meets fewer hours per week and allows you to return to work and daily responsibilities. From IOP you may transition to outpatient therapy or our alumni program. The step-down is gradual and planned, never abrupt.
