Referral Partner FAQ

Answers to the most common questions from referring professionals about our intake, programs, and communication.

What levels of care do you offer? +

We provide a full outpatient continuum: Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in both 5-day and 3-day tracks, Virtual IOP via telehealth, a dedicated Mental Health IOP, and standard Outpatient (virtual only). This allows patients to step up or down without changing facilities.

How quickly can a patient begin treatment? +

Same-day admissions are available. Once the referral is received, we verify insurance within 1 hour and can complete a clinical assessment and enrollment on the same day. We maintain 100% compliance with the 7-Day Rule—every patient is seen within 7 days of initial contact.

Which insurance plans do you accept? +

We accept 16+ major insurance providers including Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Horizon BCBS, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, Optum, Oxford, Medicare, Medicaid, and more. Our admissions team handles all pre-authorization and benefits verification at no cost to the provider or patient.

Will I receive updates on my patient's progress? +

Yes. With appropriate consent, referring providers receive intake confirmation, periodic progress summaries aligned with our 4-stage treatment model (Restore, Activate, Accelerate, Thrive), and a comprehensive discharge summary with aftercare recommendations.

Do you treat co-occurring mental health disorders? +

Absolutely. Valley Spring holds both SUD and Mental Health licenses (SUD #200887, MH #70420104). Our clinical team is trained in dual-diagnosis treatment, and our dedicated Mental Health IOP specifically serves patients with primary psychiatric conditions with or without co-occurring substance use.

What is the referral process? +

You can submit a referral through our online form above, call (201) 781-8812, or fax clinical documentation. Our admissions team responds within 1 business hour. There is no minimum documentation required to start the process—we can work with whatever information you have.

What clinical modalities do you use? +

Our evidence-based approach includes CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, group therapy, individual counseling, family therapy, and psychoeducation. Treatment plans are individualized based on clinical assessment findings.

Is there an alumni or aftercare program? +

Yes. Our alumni program provides ongoing support after discharge including alumni meetings, peer mentorship, continued access to resources, and relapse prevention support. We also coordinate with referring providers for seamless long-term care transitions.
