What Our Clients Say

Stories From the Path to Recovery

Real experiences from people who found their direction through our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — 3 Day.

When I stepped down from inpatient, I was terrified of losing my support system. IOP 3-Day gave me that same level of structure while I rebuilt my daily life. Six days a week, I had somewhere to be and people who believed in me.

PHP Graduate, 2024

I came in thinking I'd just go through the motions. By the second week, I realized the staff actually cared. Henry checked in on me every morning. The therapists didn't read from a script — they listened. I found myself again here.

MR
Michael R.
PHP Graduate, 2024

The process groups were small — never more than 10 people. That made all the difference. You can't hide in a group that size, and honestly, I didn't want to. For the first time, I wanted to be heard. Valley Spring made that safe.

Step-Down to IOP

8:1 Client-to-Staff Ratio

You're never just a number. With no more than 8 clients per clinician, you receive focused, individualized attention in every session. Your therapist knows your story, your triggers, and your goals — because they have the time and bandwidth to pay attention.

Six Days a Week of Structure

3 days/week (you choose), 6PM-9PM, 3 days/week. Six hours a day of evidence-based treatment gives you the structure and consistency you need during the most vulnerable phase of recovery. This isn't drop-in care — it's a comprehensive daily program.

Process Groups Under 10 People

Our process groups are capped at fewer than 10 clients. This creates an environment where everyone is heard, accountability is real, and therapeutic bonds form naturally. Large groups let people hide. Ours don't.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Dr. Michael Olla provides psychiatric oversight and MAT for every PHP client who needs it. We offer Suboxone, Vivitrol, Brixadi, Naltrexone, and Topamax — all managed in-house so your medication and therapy work in concert.

EMDR & Trauma-Informed Therapies

Addiction rarely exists in isolation. Our therapists are trained in EMDR, CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and experiential therapy — allowing us to address trauma, co-occurring disorders, and the root causes driving substance use.

Catered Lunch Every Day

Nutrition is part of recovery. We provide a catered lunch every day so you can focus on your healing, not on meal prep. Eating together as a community also builds the kind of connection that textbooks can't teach.

Same-Day or Next-Day Admission

When you're ready, we move fast. Insurance verification and clinical assessment can be completed in hours. Most patients begin treatment the same day or the next day. We remove barriers — we don't create them.

Dedicated Women's Track

We offer a specialized women's track within PHP that addresses the unique challenges women face in recovery — including trauma, family dynamics, self-image, and co-occurring mental health conditions — in a safe, women-only therapeutic space.

Together We Heal Family Program

Recovery is a family effort. Our 6-session Together We Heal workshop teaches CRAFT communication, boundary setting, Narcan training, and trust rebuilding. It's open to anyone — your family doesn't need to wait for you to enroll.

Alumni Community for Life

Graduation isn't the end — it's a transition. Our alumni program provides monthly meetings, social events, and ongoing support. Once you're part of Valley Spring, you have a community that shows up for you indefinitely.

Seamless Step-Down to IOP

When you're ready, you transition directly into our 5-day or 3-day IOP with the same clinical team. No new intake, no new faces, no disruption. It's a step down in hours, not in quality or continuity of care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About PHP

Answers to the questions we hear most from patients and families considering our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — 3 Day.

IOP 3-Day is our highest level of outpatient care — six hours a day, six days a week (3 days/week (you choose), 6PM-9PM, 3 days/week). It's designed for individuals stepping down from inpatient or those who need intensive daily structure. IOP is an evening program (6 PM to 9 PM) available in 5-day or 3-day formats, designed for people who can maintain work or school during the day. Most patients step down from PHP into IOP as they gain independence.
Most patients are in our PHP program for 6–8 weeks, though the exact duration depends on your clinical progress and individual treatment plan. Your care team — led by Henry Iwuala and Dr. Michael Olla — will assess your readiness to step down to IOP during weekly team meetings every Wednesday.
Our PHP uses a combination of evidence-based and experiential therapies: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), experiential therapy (art, music, yoga), and trauma-informed care. We also provide Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) including Suboxone, Vivitrol, Brixadi, Naltrexone, and Topamax under Dr. Olla's supervision.
Yes. We offer a dedicated women's track within our PHP program that addresses the unique challenges women face in recovery — including trauma, family dynamics, self-image, and co-occurring mental health conditions. This track provides women-only group sessions in a safe, supportive therapeutic environment.
Absolutely. With your consent, family involvement is encouraged and significantly improves outcomes. We offer the Together We Heal family workshop — a 6-session program covering Narcan training, CRAFT communication, boundary setting, and trust rebuilding. We also offer family therapy sessions and regular updates from the clinical team. Your family can participate regardless of your enrollment status.
We accept 16 major insurance carriers: Horizon Blue Cross, NYSHIP, Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Amerihealth, Oscar, Meritain, Fidelis Care, United Healthcare, UMR, Tricare, Compsych, Highmark, and Magellan Health. We verify your benefits before you start so there are no surprises. Call (201) 781-8812 or use our online verification form.
In most cases, we can complete insurance verification and clinical assessment within hours. Clinical and medical approval typically takes about 1 hour. Many patients begin treatment the same day or the next day. We understand that when someone is ready for help, every hour matters.
Yes. We provide a catered lunch every day during your PHP programming (12:00 – 1:00 PM). Proper nutrition is a core part of recovery, and sharing meals together builds community. You don't need to worry about packing food or leaving the facility during your program day.
