Click each step to explore details. Our streamlined process removes barriers so you can start healing faster.

1. Call
2. Assess
3. Approve
4. Schedule
5. Begin
1
Call Our Admissions Line
Available 24/7 -- takes about 10 minutes

Call (201) 781-8812 anytime, day or night. Our admissions team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will speak with a real person who understands what you are going through -- not a voicemail or automated system.

During this call, our team conducts an initial screening with qualifying questions to understand your situation and determine if Valley Spring is the right fit. We will ask about substance use history, mental health concerns, and current living situation.

Calling for a loved one? Family members and referral sources are welcome to call on someone's behalf.
2
Pre-Assessment & Insurance Verification
Handled by our admissions team behind the scenes

After your initial call, our admissions department immediately begins verifying your insurance benefits and coverage levels. We work with 16 major insurance providers and handle all the paperwork so you do not have to.

At the same time, we confirm clinical appropriateness based on the information you shared. Our goal is to make sure Valley Spring can provide the specific level of care you need, whether that is Partial Care, IOP, Virtual, or our Mental Health program.

We verify your insurance at no cost and with no obligation. If we are not the right fit, we will help connect you with a program that is.
3
Clinical & Medical Approval
Typically completed within 1 hour

Our Clinical Director reviews your screening information along with any medical records from referring providers. The clinical team evaluates appropriateness for admission and determines which program track aligns best with your needs.

This step typically takes about one hour. Our team prioritizes quick turnaround because we know that when someone is ready to get help, timing matters.

Clinical approval typically happens within 1 hour of completing the initial screening call.
4
Schedule Your Intake
Admissions calls back within 24 hours

Once clinically approved, our admissions coordinator calls you back to schedule your in-person intake appointment. We work around your schedule and can often accommodate same-day or next-day intake.

Some admissions can even be completed virtually for those with distance or transportation barriers. We can also help arrange transportation to the facility if needed.

Same-day intake is available. We also accommodate virtual admissions on a case-by-case basis.
5
Begin Treatment
Start same day or next day

You arrive at our Norwood facility and are personally greeted by a Program Coordinator -- Ron or Cameron. They will show you around, introduce you to staff, and walk you through everything you need to know.

Your intake includes a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment (about 1 hour with a therapist), orientation, consent forms, and level of care determination. By the end of your first visit, you will know your treatment plan and start date.

We treat every person as an individual first, not a number. Our coordinators get to know you before any paperwork begins.

Arriving at Valley Spring

When you arrive at 830 Broadway in Norwood, NJ, you will find our discrete standalone building with private parking right out front. There is no large signage advertising a treatment center -- we prioritize your privacy from the moment you pull into the lot.

Walk in through the front entrance and you will be warmly welcomed. There is no sterile waiting room or clipboard-first approach. We want you to feel comfortable before anything clinical begins.

Meet Your Program Coordinators

Your first human interaction at Valley Spring will be with Ron Lopez or Cameron Kennedy, our Program Coordinators. Their job is not to process you through a system -- it is to get to know you as a person.

Ron and Cameron will sit down with you, learn about what brought you here, answer any questions, and make sure you feel safe and respected. At Valley Spring, we believe the therapeutic relationship starts the moment you walk through the door, not when formal treatment begins.

Facility Tour & Orientation

After meeting your coordinator, you will receive a guided tour of the facility. You will see the group therapy rooms where small process groups of under 10 people meet, individual therapy rooms, and common areas.

During orientation, your coordinator explains the program structure, daily schedule, house rules, rights and responsibilities, and what to expect in the coming weeks. This is your chance to ask anything -- no question is too small.

Biopsychosocial Assessment

This is the clinical core of your intake. You will spend approximately one hour with a licensed therapist or case manager who conducts a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment. This covers your biological health, psychological history, and social circumstances.

The assessment helps our treatment team understand the full picture of your life -- not just the substance use or mental health concern that brought you here. This information directly shapes your individualized treatment plan.

Admissions FAQ

Search below or click any question to reveal the answer.

How quickly can I start treatment?

In many cases, you can begin treatment the same day or the next day after your initial call. Our clinical team typically completes the approval process within one hour, and our admissions coordinator schedules your intake within 24 hours. We understand that when you are ready to get help, every hour matters.

What if I do not have insurance?

Call us at (201) 781-8812 to discuss your situation. Our admissions team can walk you through available options and help explore pathways to coverage. We believe financial barriers should not prevent anyone from getting the help they need.

Can a family member call on my behalf?

Absolutely. Family members, friends, therapists, and other referral sources are welcome to call our admissions line on someone's behalf. We work with families every day to help get their loved ones into treatment. Our team can guide you on the best approach.

Is detox required before admission?

Valley Spring is an outpatient facility, so active detoxification is not provided on-site. However, many of our patients come directly from inpatient detox or residential programs as a step-down. If you need detox first, we can help coordinate that process and have you transition to Valley Spring once stabilized.

Can I keep working while in treatment?

Yes. Our IOP programs are specifically designed for working professionals. Evening sessions run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM so you can maintain your job, education, or childcare responsibilities during the day. Our case managers also handle FMLA paperwork, short-term disability documentation, and return-to-work letters.

What levels of care do you offer?

We offer a full continuum of outpatient care: Partial Care (PHP) for the most intensive structure, IOP 5-Day and IOP 3-Day for evening intensive outpatient, Virtual IOP for remote care, standard Outpatient, and a dedicated Mental Health program. Our 4-stage model -- Restore, Activate, Accelerate, Thrive -- guides patients through progressively more independent levels of care.

Do you offer virtual admissions?

Yes, some admissions can be completed virtually on a case-by-case basis. This is particularly helpful for those with transportation barriers or medical limitations. Contact our admissions team to discuss whether a virtual intake is appropriate for your situation.

Is there housing or sober living available?

Yes. Valley Spring partners with supportive sober living housing that offers upscale accommodations, private rooms upon request, gym access, weekend activities, and easy access to nature trails. Our case management team helps coordinate housing as part of your treatment planning.
